Alrighty fellow AK burners, freaks, and super-humans.

It is time to start planning and getting this show on the road. If we don't figure out the who/what/when/how of it now it's not gonna happen by July!

So...here's what is happening...

I've got a tenative location recommended back in January. I'm waiting to confirm it but it is probably a pretty good bet.

I'm contacting people about a sound system since my plans for purchasing one have been delayed.

I need to know who can help make this happen as volunteers. Mainly we need people to do promotion, security, setup, cleanup, etc.

I've set up a separate tribe that will be specifically for planning notes and other shit: tribes.tribe.net/holosfest

If you want to help please contact me soon!

Since spring is getting closer it'll be easier for me to make a trip or few down to Anchorage to meet up with anyone from that area wanting to help out. I think that Anchorage will be an easier area to organize out of since more people live there and many of the resources I'm going to probably need (sound, etc) will come out of ANC. So...let me know if y'all would be interested in setting up a time to meet somewhere (Darwin's Theory or somewhere good you know of) and start planning!

Let's make this happen - Alaska needs a good treatment of the friendly, freaky, and counter-norm. Let's help put the dominant culture on hold for a weekend and invite others to do the same!!

  • Have you contacted any of the people organizing Clucking Blossom? I think it is being held on May 17. We are in the throes of organization right now, planning benefit shows, setting up work groups, etc. I'm more of a worker ant for them - I don't call the shots, I just take on tasks.

I can't remember - where were you hoping to hold this festival? I know that the Burning Man temple might derail your plans a bit, but keep us updated!
    • We've rescheduled the holos/alaska burner regional for the weekend of July 5th-6th.

Our tenative location is Boots Bison Ranch in Trapper Creek (home of the Trapper Creek Bluegrass fest and the Alaska Arts and Music festival). I met with some Anchoragites to start planning...I'll keep you all posted here in the Banks as I'm planning on having a meet-up sometime in the next couple weeks to see who wants to be involved.
